H500 Folding carbon fibre Quadcopter complete built & test flown system

Availability: In stock

As low as: £399.00

Price as configured: £399.00

Quick Overview

Our H500 carbon fibre folding quadcopter with a choice of APM or Pixhawk flight controllers.

These are powered by 2814 810Kv motors with lots of power to spin the 10"x4.5" carbon fibre props that we supply with them.

These come as standard with the Pixhawk flight controller. Combined with the Neo7 GPS/compass modules as standard for super accurate (1m) position holding.

If you select the X8R receiver or Taranis combo then we include the Mavlink telemerty module as standard.

This is a very capable and stable rig, ideal for travelling as it folds down into a very compact format with the props still on so no tools needed at the flying site.

They are very light weight so with a 4S 5200mAh lipo they are 1.8Kg all up flying weight. So you should get about 18 minutes of flying time. You can then add a second 5200mAh lipo to extend that flight time or keep it if you are adding a gimbal and camera gear.

These units are custom built for each order and test flown with the content of your order before being dispatched so you can just take them out of the box and start flying without having to worry about calibrating or setting things up. We normally provide the test flight video of your actualy models test flight on a private YouTube video.

We normally complete orders for systems within 1 week from date of order depending on work load. You can always call us or check your order status which is updated and emailed to you during the process.

The front bars fit our tarot brushless gimbal perfectly or our basic 2 axis brushless gimbal for GoPro cameras. This rig comes with our tall landing skids as standard which clip off for compact transportation.

For a complete aerial photography or FPV package you will need to select from the tions below:
Brushless gimbal
video lead
video transmitter
video receiver & USB AV capture card (if using your laptop as the video screen or your laptop as a ground control station)
or instead of the video receiver above we have a 7" FPV monitor with built in battery and video receiver
we recommend the circular polarised antenna set to imrpvoe video quality and range
minimOSD (provides the flight data overlaid on the video screen with flight battery info and arrow to home etc

The 3DR Radio telemetry kit allows you to control the quadcopter from your laptop as a true ground control station. If you like you can even fly the quadcopter with a Joystick as demonstrated in our video on YouTube: Flying a quadcopter with a Joystick in Mission Planner
When using the 3DR Radio telemetry you don't need the minimOSD as the flight data is passed through the telemetry link.
To get the ground control station system as demonstrated in the video you will need:
3DR radio telemetry kit
video transmitter
circular polarised antenna set
video receiver
USB AV capture card
1000mAh lipo to power the video receiver
 camera of your choice

Could do better Review by Julie

Ease of use
On the plus side using the quad for the first time was easy and Peter answered the couple of email question I had quickly and concisely. On the negative side it didn't come with the promised pixhawk but with a "px4lite" about which there's practically zero item-specific information on the net and which in spite of being much smaller and claiming to not need the additional antivibration mount (thus taking up considerably less space in the frame) was still mounted on one.
The landing gear shown in the product page was changed to a fixed legs type without prior mention which makes the whole point of the quad folding up less valid since it's now permanent legs mean it can't easily be carried far or stowed away in the car as easily. On receiving the quad I immediately decided to order a set of retracts to get round the fixed leg problem only to find that when they arrived so many of the hex screws holding the quad together had had their heads rounded that I couldn't even detach the battery tray to move it out of the way enabling the retracts to sit in the middle.
Also missing was the video of the test flight which I understood was normally made available to the purchaser. I'd also liked to have seen the existence of an easily accessible secondary power connector for a gimbal to save me having to split the battery connector wires in order to add one.
A very capable quad all things considered (it flies exactly how I hoped) but things like missing detachable legs, no genuine pixhawk controller, and so many rounded off screw heads I can't get into it to change anything, really take the edge off what otherwise would have been cracking good machine. We went to see Peter before buying this and settled on a stretched version with 16" rotors for extra endurance.

Our focus has been on testing and demonstrating a new ground control station that we have developed so we needed something robust that would just do the job and it certainly meets the criteria.

My comments reflect those above that the service is just excellent. We've saved hours though a few telephone calls to Peter. (Posted on 28/04/2015)

Just received my H500 Pro delivered by courier next day to Cyprus, and words cannot describe it. Peter does such a wonderful job at setting things up. Would have worked out of the box but for a few silly things which were my fault and the fact that this purchase was using some bits from a previous quad - so Peter never had all my things to set it up with. Took a little longer than quoted to be completed due to issues Peter had with his 3D printer and the weather, but worth the wait. A word of praise for Peter's customer service - it is always well beyond the call of duty and makes one feel a wanted and valued customer. His patience is incredible and diplomats could learn a lot from his approach!! Shipped to Cyprus in a superb hard waterproof case. Drift mode is awsome. RTL lands within 0.6 metres. Flys at 750cm/s great. Looks as though it is around 25 mins flight time from 10000 mah battery but yet to see the ultimate limits, and appears as solid as a rock. For some unknown reason had to re-calibrate accelerometers after it's flight here but otherwise no issues. Any niggles? Yes - sadly Peter has reverted to the standard non folding legs due to weaknesses in the clip-on ones and the foam inserts in the standard legs deform and flatten (under the weight of large battery packs any way) which could result in the leg sides penetrating soft ground. Firmer foam may help. Other than that a fantastic package that is superior in all ways to my previous quad - a Spider. Just waiting for my gimbol to get (hopefully) jello-free footage from the on board camera.
Would I recommend the H500 and Droneshop? - yes, without any hesitation. For customer service and assistance Peter King is THE King!!

A very nice quad. not a toy Review by George

I am a noob in this. Still, there might be others like me, who might find my experience interesting. For sure, using a Fixhawk instead of apm is the way to go. No one does something for you better than yourself, but, I needed more than a month to figure just the basics to build one and still didn't finish. Peter did one for me and I am flying that one. Not to mention his technical support every time I needed it. The quad is incredible stable In loiter mode! It is not a small toy quad however, it gives me some adrenalin every time I fly it. I am very happy I did not go the DJI phantom path! It is a very nice quad and you can customize and extend it a lot. I just hang a sony rx100 on it and added fpv stuff, very happy about that. One of the key features is that you can compact it very nice and be impressed every time by its size when you unpack it. A minus however, are the skids landing. Bad quality and they broke to easy. Peter sent me quickly and free of charge the original legs of the frame kit. It's bulkier for transport but I am ok with that. (Posted on 19/03/2015)

Just wanted to post a Thank you really Peter has been great with my new quad so far I went to collect it and was welcomed and made to feel at home despite how long it took to sort a few issues as the build was still in progress when I arrived , Ive had numerous problem since 99% my own fault and even with those they have been great with after sales service talking me through re programming my radio setting up the parameters on the pixhawk etc etc all of which were fine when I left but buggered up fiddling when i got home as for the Quad itself it flys great and is very locked in solid build and nice small size for travelling the pixhawk FC is way beyond my needs at present but Im learning fast again with peters hints and tips along the way anyone thinking of buying from Dronebiz do so with confidence , and also watch all his Vids on youtube there full of great info that could have and would have helped me from making as many mistakes as I have, had I watched them all first lol (Posted on 25/11/2014)

a pocket full of fun! Review by Paul

Collected this today and how awesome is it?
Peter collected me from the station and took the time to set up both my transmitter and mac book were set up to fly this. I can't imagine many other vendors are going to want to spend time setting up equipment they didn't sell??
I don't think you could get better service, however that is not what you are interested in is it, you want to know whether you should buy this quadcopter.
Before we go any further I have to say i have never flown anything remote controlled before in my life. Peter talked me through what the various controls did and explained about the failsafe procedures. It was set up to be fairly docile in handling but with a flick of the switch it instantly became more agile - which would suit a more experienced pilot, and one day i hope to be able to be able to do this!
Battery life is phenomenal which I have admit did surprise me with the amount of lights and sounds it made, Within a couple of minutes I was confidently flying around the field.
You may ask why I called it a pocket full of fun....you've seen the pictures and probably the video showing how small it folds up? Well I managed to fit it in a small plastic carrier bag to take it home, it's folder footprint is less than a magazine ( so perhaps A4?)
For less than the cost of a mass produced copter you are getting something that is handcrafted to your requirements AND is more than capable of growing with your experience. (Posted on 10/09/2014)
