Quick Overview

This is an FTDI adapter and programming cable for flashing the FrSky X series receivers or the internal module of the Taranis radio to get around the Bind issues people are having due to the difference between the EU firmware and international firmware.

If you have a pre 2015 Taranis and new a new receiver or a pre 2015 X series receiver (like the X8R) and a new Taranis then you will probably need to flash one of them to get them onto the same firmware.

See our video about doing this.

The FTDI adapter is not a standard one as the Tx & Rx lines have to have the signals inverted (not just swapping them) which involves re-programming the FTDI adapter, so I thought it would be easier to offer these kits to the public.

After weeks of worrying about whether the Tx or Rx was mucked up inside and that was causing the problems mining in 16c mode. This little beauty has with very little effort on my behalf fixed everything. sighs of relief. (Posted on 09/02/2017)

Was having problems with flashing my Taranis and several receivers. Had recently acquired a Taranis Plus which had different XJT programming. My original Sky sourced tools were not working reliably and having seen this FTDI kit on the website I decided to buy. Arrived quickly and worked with both sets and all my receivers. The fully assembled and tested lead removed the possibility of any error and the chip has been programmed to the correct Tx/Rx line polarity.
Save yourself hours of fault finding with this simple to use kit. (Posted on 14/12/2016)

Good item but after watching further videos and tinkering about its not been needed at all, so far all flashing can be done via the transmitter never been easier , may need the ftdi one day though, still learning my way around. (Posted on 20/07/2016)

Purchased after earlier purchase of Taranis X9E and all attendant EU and non-EU firmware/software issues forced me to look more deeply into Taranis capabilities. I already had the FrSky updater and eventually bought the FrSky pilot and USB updater none of which worked according to the FrSky instructions. This works straightaway with the help of the downloads available from the droneshop and the excellent videos. All in all an excellent complete package to get EU-LBT firmware working and sustainable. Excellent piece of kit if you don't want to change your Taranis firmware in order to use the latest receivers etc, that now come with new EU firmware that is not compatable with the earlier Taranis operating the International firmware.
As i know very little about electrononics, with this ready to use gizmo i was easily able to change the firmware on a new X6R in minutes.
Well worth the money. (Posted on 18/05/2016)
